QUOTATION
Luna: "Would you like me to fix it for you? Personally, I think you look a bit more 'devil-may-care' this way, but it's up to you."

Harry: "Erm, have you ever fixed a nose before?"

Luna: "No, but I've done several toes - and how different are they, really?"

Summary: He had to face the truth sooner or later.

--------

"Luna, you can't come along. It's far too dangerous. I can't risk you getting hurt. Don't worry about it. You should be acting like a teenager, not running around playing the hero. You're too young, Luna. You have far too much to lose." Harry's voice had gone from loud to quiet during his speech.

He looked at Luna, who had been standing, looking dreamy and serene while voicing her request to join him on his quest to find the Horcruxes. She was always so calm, so serene, so in control that he was shocked to see her now.

Her calm demeanor had disappeared. Now she looked angry and irritated -- a very, very, rare occurence. He only saw her like this when someone insulted her father or the Quibbler. And that one time when she had fought at the Department of Mysteries.

"Harry, you're being very inconsiderate. You're my friend, Harry, and your enemies are my own. I know what you're up against, and I've fought it. I'm no stranger to death and destruction. I've seen just as much as you have, so don't you dare look down your damn nose at me and tell me I'm too young, Harry James Potter. You need me more than you know." Her silver-blue eyes were narrowed, and her fists were clenched.

"Luna, you could be hurt." He was fighting a losing battle, and he knew it.

"So could you or Ron or Hermione or Ginny or Neville. I'm not scared." She was going back to her sensible, calm, serene self.

"Can I talk you out of it?" He decided make a half-hearted attempt to persuade her.

"No." She was smiling serenly now.

"Fine, Luna. Just... just be careful. I'd hate to lose you." And he meant it... more than she would ever know.

"I'll be fine, Harry." She took his hand, and they went to find Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville. He squeezed, tightly, getting a strange feeling in his stomach.
