"People expect you to have cooler friends than us," said Luna, once again displaying her knack for embarrassing honesty. "You are cool," said Harry shortly. "None of them was at the Ministry. They didn't fight with me." "That's a very nice thing to say," beamed Luna. --Half-Blood Prince |

POTTY & LOONY >> BOOK MOMENTS : THE DEATHLY HALLOWS
----------------------------------
Chapter 8: The Wedding
-- At Bill and Fleur's wedding, Harry is Polyjuice-disguised as a Weasley as a security measure against any spies to Voldemort. Luna and her father show up, and without any preamble, Luna greets Harry as himself, having seen straight through his disguise. When he tries to deflect her, saying he's really Barny Weasley, she simply goes "oh, so you've changed your name, too?" When Harry asks how Luna recognized him, she says it was simply something in his expression. Harry observes that once you get past the brightness of Luna's yellow dress robes, the overall effect of the gown and the sunflower in her hair is actually "quite pleasant."
-- When Krum observes Luna dancing and oddly waving her hands about her head, Harry easily recognizes her behavior as fending off Wrackspurts, but admits to himself he's probably not doing a good job of explaining her to Krum.
----------------------
Chapter 20: Xenophilius Lovegood
-- The Trio are at Luna's house, hoping to ask her father about the mysterious Grindelwald symbol he wears. Observing Harry's morose mood, Ron tells him to cheer up, reminding him that it's the holidays and Luna will be there soon.
----------------------
Chapter 21: The Tale of Three Brothers
-- At the Lovegood house, Harry goes up to look at Luna's bedroom. Up there he's astounded to see beautiful paintings of his, Ron's, Hermione's, Ginny's, and Neville's faces on her walls, surrounded by the word "friends" repeated over and over. Harry feels a great rush of affection for Luna at the sight of them. While in her room, he also notices a picture of Luna with her mother, observing that before her mother died, Luna seemed to be groomed more "normally."
------------------------
Chapter 22: The Deathly Hallows
-- When contemplating the possible whereabouts of the kidnapped Luna, Ron expresses the concern that she's in Azkaban. Harry, unable to contemplate the alternative, declares that Luna's more than tough enough to make it through a place like Azkaban, and that she's probably even teaching the other inmates about Wrackspurts and Nargles.
-- Later on in the chapter, Harry's suddenly wracked with shame when he realizes he's forgotten about Luna alone in Azkaban. He wishes it were possible to rescue her, but the sheer number of Dementors around Azkaban make a rescue mission unlikely.
--------------------
Chapter 23: Malfoy Manor
-- When the Trio is imprisoned by Death Eaters at Malfoy Manor, they discover Luna (and Dean Thomas and Mr. Ollivander) captive there as well. Luna helps them escape, declaring fervently that she and the others want to help Harry.
---------------------
Chapter 24: The Wandmaker
-- At Dobby's funeral, Luna closes the elf's eyes and gives a heartfelt eulogy for him. Harry finds he can't say anything, because Luna's already said it all better than he could. The next morning, Harry spots Luna lying flowers on Dobby's grave.
---------------------
Chapter 29: The Lost Diadem
-- Harry and Luna spend several pages of this chapter huddled together under Harry's Invisibility Cloak, as she guides Harry to the Ravenclaw common room in his quest to locate the Ravenclaw Horcrux.
--------------------
Chapter 30: The Sacking of Severus Snape
-- In the Ravenclaw common room, Luna stuns a Death Eater before she can attack Harry.
-- After experiencing another vision of Voldemort hurrying towards Hogwarts, Harry finds himself clutching Luna's shoulder to steady himself.
-- During Snape's duel with McGonagall and the other teachers, Harry pulls Luna out of the way, shielding her behind him until Snape has fled.
--------------------
Chapter 32: The Elder Wand
-- In the Forbidden Forest during the Battle of Hogwarts, the Trio are overwhelmed by Dementors, to the point where Harry can't even summon a Patronus. Luna, Ernie Macmillan, and Seamus Finnegan appear, their own Patronuses frightening away the Dementors. Luna encourages Harry to think of something happy, prompting a disbelieving response from him; he can't think of anything happy at that moment. Luna quietly reminds him that they're all still there, that they're still fighting; this seems to give Harry the emotional strength he needs to conjure his Patronus.
---------------------
Chapter 36: The Flaw in the Plan
-- After the Battle of Hogwarts and the defeat of Voldemort, Harry finds himself sitting beside Luna in the Great Hall. Luna comments that if she were in his place, she'd want some peace and quiet. Harry admits he'd love some. Luna says she'll distract everyone for him, and tells him to use his Invisibility Cloak. She suddenly exclaims out loud to the crowd that there's a Blubbering Humdinger and points eagerly, providing Harry his needed distraction.
