Chapter 8: The Wedding
- "Hello, Harry!" she said.
"Er, my name's Barny," said Harry, flummoxed.
"Oh, have you changed that too?" she asked brightly.
"How did you know - ?"
"Oh, just your expression," she said.
[pg. 140]
- "Ron can laugh," said Luna serenely as Harry led her and Xenophilius toward their seats, "but my father has done a lot of research on Gernumbli magic."
"Really?" said Harry, who had long since decided not to challenge Luna on her father's peculiar views. "Are you sure you don't want to put anything on that bite, though?"
"Oh, it's fine," said Luna, sucking her finger in a dreamy fashion and looking Harry up and down. "You look smart. I told Daddy most people would probably wear dress robes, but he believes you ought to wear sun colors to a wedding for luck, you know."
[pg. 141]
- "The Lovegoods are quite... unusual. [Xenophilius] could easily have picked it up somewhere and think it's a cross section of the head of a Crumple-Horned Snorkack or something."
"The cross section of a vot?"
"Well, I don't know what they are, but apparently he and his daughter go on holiday looking for them..."
Harry felt he was doing a bad job explaining Luna and her father.
"That's her," he said, pointing at Luna, who was still dancing alone, waving her arms around her head like someone attempting to beat off midges.
"Vy is she doing that?" asked Krum.
"Probably trying to get rid of a Wrackspurt," said Harry, who recognized the symptoms.
[pg. 148-49]

Chapter 20, Xenophilius Lovegood
- "Cheer up, it's the Christmas holidays, Luna'll be home!" [Ron to Harry, pg. 396]
-
Chapter 21: The Tale of the Three Brothers
- Luna had decorated her bedroom ceiling with five beautifully detailed painted faces: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville. They were not moving as the portraits at Hogwarts moved, but there was a certain magic about them all the same: Harry thought they breathed. What appeared to be fine golden chains wove around the pictures, linking them together, but after examining them for a minute or so, Harry realized the chains were actually one word, repeated a thousand times in golden ink: friends... friends... friends...
Harry felt a great rush of affection for Luna. He looked around the room. There was a large photograph beside the bed, of a young Luna and a woman who looked very like her. They were hugging. Luna looked rather better-groomed in the picture than Harry had ever seen her in life. [pg. 417]

Chapter 22: The Deathly Hallows
- "Then she'll be in Azkaban, I expect," said Ron. "Whether she survives the place, though... Loads don't..."
"She will," said Harry. He could not bear to contemplate the alternative. "She's tough, Luna, much tougher than you'd think. She's probably teaching all the inmates about Wrackspurts and Nargles." [pg. 425]
- It was nearly dawn when he remembered Luna, alone in a cell in Azkaban, surrounded by dementors, and he suddenly felt ashamed of himself. He had forgotten all about her in his feverish contemplation of the Hallows. If only they could rescue her... [pg. 434-35]
-
Chapter 23: Malfoy Manor
- "Harry? Ron?"
"Luna?"
"Yes, it's me! Oh no, I didn't want you to be caught!"
"Luna, can you help us get these ropes off?" said Harry.
"Oh, yes, I expect so... There's an old nail we use if we need to break anything... Just a moment..." [pg. 464]
- "Harry, we want to help you!" Luna whispered. [pg. 468]
-
Chapter 24: The Wandmaker
- "I think we should say something," piped up Luna. "I'll go first, shall I?" [snip] "Thank you so much, Dobby, for rescuing me from that cellar. It's so unfair that you had to die, when you were so good and brave. I'll always remember what you did for us. I hope you're happy now." [snip]
Harry swallowed.
"Goodbye, Dobby," he said. It was all he could manage, but Luna had said it all for him. [pg. 480]
-
Chapter 29: The Lost Diadem
- "Hi, everyone!" said Luna happily. "Oh, it's great to be back!"
"Luna," said Harry distractedly, "what are you doing here? How did you - ?" [pg. 581]
- "No, Luna will take Harry, won't you, Luna?"
"Ooh, yes, I'd like to," said Luna happily... [pg. 585]
- "Which came first, the phoenix or the flame?"
"Hmm... what do you think, Harry?" said Luna, looking thoughtful.
"What? Isn't there just a password?"
"Oh no, you've got to answer a question," said Luna.
"What if you get it wrong?"
"Well, you have to wait for somebody who gets it right," said Luna. "That way you learn, you see?"
"Yeah... trouble is, we can't really afford to wait for anyone else, Luna."
"No, I see what you mean," said Luna seriously. "Well, then I think the answer is that a circle has no beginning."
[pg. 587]

Chapter 30: The Sacking of Severus Snape
- A loud bang brought Harry back to where he stood: Disoriented, he raised his wand, but the witch before him was already falling forward; she hit the ground so hard that the glass in the bookcases tinkled.
"I've never Stunned anyone except in our D.A. lessons," said Luna, sounding mildly interested. "That was noisier than I thought it would be." [snip]
"Luna, where are you? I need to get under the Cloak!"
Luna's feet appeared out of nowhere; he hurried to her side and she let the Cloak fall back over them... [pg. 589-90]
- "Professor McGonagall, Voldemort's on his way."
"Oh, are we allowed to say the name now?" asked Luna with an air of interest, pulling off the Cloak... [snip]
"I don't think it makes any difference what we call him," Harry told Luna. "He already knows where I am." [pg. 594]
- "Potter, are you all right?" said a voice, and Harry came back: He was clutching Luna's shoulder to steady himself. [pg. 595]
- Harry, about to curse Snape, was forced to pull Luna out of the way of the descending flames... [pg. 598]
- ...looking behind him, still shielding Luna from flying spells, Harry saw Professors Flitwick and Sprout sprinting up the corridor toward them... [pg. 598]
-
Chapter 32: The Elder Wand
- A hundred dementors were advancing, gliding toward them, sucking their way closer to Harry's despair, which was like the promise of a feast... [snip]
And then a silver hare, a boar, and a fox soared past Harry, Ron, and Hermione's heads: The dementors fell back before the creatures' approach. Three more people had arrived out of the darkness to stand beside them, their wands outstretched, continuing to cast their Patronuses: Luna, Ernie, and Seamus.
"That's right," said Luna encouragingly, as if they were back in the Room of Requirement and this was simply spell practice for the D.A. "That's right, Harry... come on, think of something happy..."
"Something happy?" he said, his voice cracked.
"We're all still here," she whispered, "we're still fighting. Come on, now..."
There was a silver spark, then a wavering light, and then, with the greatest effort it had ever cost him, the stag burst from the end of Harry's wand. [pg. 649]
-
Chapter 36: The Flaw in the Plan
- After a while, exhausted and drained, Harry found himself sitting on a bench beside Luna.
"I'd want some peace and quiet, if it were me," she said.
"I'd love some," he replied.
"I'll distract them all," she said. "Use your Cloak."
And before he could say a word she had cried, "Oooh,
look, a Blibbering Humdinger!" and pointed out the window. [pg. 745]
